Product features V-anvil outside micrometer with 0.04 to 0.6" measuring range measures the outside diameter of three-flute cutting heads, such as taps, reamers, and end mills Digit display has 0.0001" graduations and an accuracy of 0.0002" for precise readings Anvil/spindle pair and spindle threads are hardened and ground for durability and long life Three-flute carbide design provides wear resistance Friction thimble provides smooth and quiet operation, and is suitable for one-handed operation Product description The Fowler 52-211-141 EZ-Read V-anvil digit micrometer has a 0.04 to 0.6" measuring range to measure the outside diameter of three-flute cutting heads, such as taps, reamers, and end mills, and five-lobe workpieces with grooved or interrupted surfaces. V-anvil micrometers are also used to check out-of-roundness from centerless grinding and similar machining. The digit display has 0.0001" graduation intervals and an accuracy of 0.0002" for precise readings. The anvil/spindle pair and spindle threads are hardened and ground for durability and long life, and the three-flute carbide design provides wear resistance. A friction thimble provides smooth and quiet operations, and is suitable for one-handed operation. Friction-style thimbles stop turning when the spindle comes into contact with the workpiece, providing constant force for consistent measurements between operators. The micrometer includes a setting piece and fitted case. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometers are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometer: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometers may also be called micrometer calipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometers are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometers measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot.
