he GW Instek PLR 60-6 is a 720 watt Programmable Switching DC Power Supply that provide supply DC voltages up to 36V at 20A. Its special hybrid circuit design incorporates a switching front-end and final linear stage linear, uniquely combining the benefits of both. The switching front-end effectively reduces size & weight versus a totally linear design, and the final linear block means lower ripple voltage, lower ripple current, and faster transient response to load changes than a switcher. If the situation requires additional power, then two units may be combined in series, or three in parallel to provide increased voltage or current.

The PLR 60-6 provides a host of programmable features, including automatic voltage sequencing, a versatile Output Off timer, and three user-defined parameter preset keys for conveniently recalling frequently used voltage/current settings. Constant Voltage and Constant Current settings are available which can prevent overshoot and inrush current when the output is turned on or a DUT is connected. External control can adjust voltage and current and OVP, OCP and UVP settings.

The PLR series design takes into consideration its integration in rackmount situations, integrated with other systems, using the optional dedicated rack mount adapter (GRA-427). Notably, the heat dissipation design uses a front air inlet and rear air outlet (with no air outlet on the top, bottom, or either side). Other equipment may thus be directly placed on top or under to conserve rack space.

The PLR Series Power Supplies are equipped standard with an RS-232 interface, but with optional GPIB & USB (PLR-GU) or USB & LAN (PLR-LU) also available. Up to 32 units can be remotely controlled with the software provided.

The new generation PLR-series DC power supplies are suitable for a wide range of applications including R&D, design verification, manufacturing, education, automobile, component and communications industries.
