With expanded capabilities, the IR5051-90 also offers insulation resistance testing with a PV function for measuring power generation without sacrificing safety or accuracy.
Simultaneous Display of All MeasurementsThe test voltage, insulation resistance, and leakage current values can be checked simultaneously. PI, DAR, DD, and capacitance values can also be displayed.
Extremely Resistant to Noise, Stable High-Resistance MeasurementsThe slightest movement of a person or measurement cord can cause unstable measurements. This instrument utilizes shielded wires, a proprietary filter, and low-current measurement technology to reduce noise and obtain stable measurement values.
No Burden on the Measured ObjectDielectric breakdown is reduced by gradually increasing the voltage to the object under test in a stepwise manner. If an insulation failure is found, the test will be immediately stopped.
Recording Measured-Value ChartsThe user can record to their smartphone or tablet with the free GENNECT Cross app via usage of the included Z3210 Wireless Adapter. The sampling rate of these measurements is a maximum of once per second.

Finding Ground-Faulted Solar Panels
Measure the Insulation Resistance of a Live StringInsulation resistance testers with the PV function are able to measure without being affected by the generated current of the PV system. With a normal insulation resistance tester, the insulation resistance cannot be measured correctly because the meter cannot separate the measurement current from the generated current.
With the GENNECT Cross app, measured values can be displayed on a picture taken on-site. The app will also create a report on-site.
Estimate Ground-Faulted Solar Panels by Measuring VoltagesTo repair the system, it is necessary to determine which solar panel has a ground fault. By measuring voltages at the main switch and transferring them to the GENNECT Cross app, the location of the ground-faulted panel can be easily determined.
